Speaker 1:Now let's get started. Today, I'm talking about the power of chat GPT, a cutting edge language model that can help AEC marketers speed up their content creation efforts. And I know chat GPT has been in everyone's social media feeds and there's some people scared that it's going to take over our jobs. That's why I've spent the last several weeks testing different uses of chat GPT before I decided to comment on it, and I'm going to do that in today's episode. You see, I like to share with you the tactics and the strategies I've tried myself, then tell you what has worked and what didn't work and why and because of my day job and my family, it sometimes takes me some time to get all of this testing of new technology and tactics out of the way before I can comment on it. So, while chat GPT has been out for several months, if not a year now, I wanted to do some quick tests to see how it can help you and your day-to-day job Bottom line. In my opinion, your job is safe. In fact, after listening to today's episode, I hope you are, in fact, re-energized when it comes to your job, specifically creating content, content for marketing, content for social media and emails and, yes, even content for your proposals.
Speaker 1:I see that chat GPT and other similar AI tools are just that they're tools. They're tools to do our job better and faster. Just like when Adobe created InDesign, indesign completely changed the ease of creating proposals and increased the quality of our design. I see chat GPT as a similar tool that we can now use. So in today's episode, I'm going to be sharing 10 different ways you can use chat GPT to help you speed up your content creation, including specific examples and limitations of the tool. And because I'm going to be going through these examples rather quickly, don't worry about taking notes. I've put together a guide that shows you all of these examples, and you can get this guide for free over at the show notes page over at marketerstakeflightcom. Okay, so let's start with setting your expectations and defining what chat GPT is.
Speaker 1:Chat GPT is a trending AI based program that people can use to generate dialogue, aka written words. It's set up like a chat bot where you can converse in human like behavior or interaction. You can tell it things, you can ask it things, and when you do that, it uses its vast database of information to generate responses, and literally a matter of seconds and at the time of this recording, it's a free service. You just need to create an account for Then every interaction you have with it is a new chat or a new conversation. And there are other similar AI services that have been around since before chat GPT, but this has been the most publicized as of recently, so that's the one I tested. Some other services, both free or paid, have included Jasper AI, any word, word tune. Those are just a few that I know of, but there are dozens of other AI generated tools that can be used for written word, to create graphics, to create photos and manipulate photos and so much more.
Speaker 1:So I don't want to get into all of those For today's episode. I'm just going to focus on the one tool I used for my testing purposes chat, gpt, and again, throughout my testing and as of this recording, this tool was free, but I anticipate that there will be some kind of subscription model for this particular tool in the future. And also for today's episode, I'm focusing on just written content, that is, content that is generated via the AI tool, and it is written content as opposed to graphics or photos. Okay, so now that we have those disclaimers out of the way, are you ready to hear these 10 different ways this new tool is going to change your content creation process. I see you shaking your head. Yes, so let's get started. And let's start with marketing content. What are some of the prompts or the questions you can ask ChatGPD, gpt to make your marketing content so?
Speaker 1:Number one generate thought leadership content. Aec firms have experts in your various services, and ChatGPD can help you start creating content, such as blog posts, articles, white papers, that showcase your firm's expertise around a specific topic area. For example, I asked ChatGPD to write me a 500 word blog article about the 10 different ways B2B marketers can use ChatGPD when it wrote it for me. I'm using some of the information it generated for this episode, but I'll get to some other limitations and cautions for this prompt in just a minute.
Speaker 1:Number two write multiple social media posts and captions. Chatgpd can be used to generate social media posts and captions and this is probably the item or the task I've tested the most, both for my day job at Full Sail Partners and for marketers take flight. I've copied and pasted in our webinar descriptions and have asked ChatGPD to write me three social media captions and they were pretty good and included relevant hashtags. Even I like using ChatGPD for the social media captions because it quickly generated as many as I asked for in just a matter of moments. I still needed to do the final editing, but I'm not starting with a blank page and especially when I need to crank out two or three posts for the same webinar, it's really helped me kind of write variations for the same topic. So that was number two and I said write multiple social media posts and captions.
Speaker 1:Number three write scripts for marketing videos, podcasts or even presentations. I tested this out by asking ChatGPD to write me a 10 minute podcast script describing 10 different ways marketers at professional services firms can use ChatGPD, and it did it. It was even scripted like a play would be with the podcast host and the podcast guests and what their lines would be, and again, I used a lot of that script to outline this exact episode. So think about what videos you have coming up, or if you host your own podcast, or what even shortlist presentations you have. It could outline or even script some of the presentations.
Speaker 1:Number four develop content for landing pages and website pages. Chatgpd can analyze your target audience and create content that is relevant and engaging to that audience, and I've tested this out for several of our virtual event landing pages for full sale partners, for example. Just recently I wrote copy for two different landing pages. I went to ChatGPD first and asked it to write me a webinar registration page copy for my topic, and just a matter of seconds it wrote something for me. One example was I asked it to write me a webinar registration page that shows in formers a global dashboard filtering feature, which is one of our upcoming mini demos. Another one I asked ChatGPD to write me was for an upcoming LinkedIn Live. This time I asked ChatGPD to write me a LinkedIn Live event description for the topic best practices to roll out your CRM system. Now, while I had to do heavy editing in both instances, it still saved me a tremendous amount of time.
Speaker 1:Starting with ChatGPD, and since each of these prompts or tasks are contained in their own chats quote unquote chats I can then ask them to write me, ask it to write me the social media captions for that topic and eventually a promotional email and an email subject line. And then that gets me to idea number five email marketing. Chat GPT can be used to create personalized email messages that are tailored to your segment audience, and it can quickly generate several different subject lines for that email message. For example, let's say you have a monthly newsletter that features different blog posts. You can copy and paste that blog post into Chat GPT and ask it to summarize for a particular audience or persona. I've used this approach in some of our email drip campaigns. I've taken a blog post and asked it to write me a sales email from that blog post, and it worked really well. For this instance, I didn't really even have to do too much editing because it was using a lot of my content from my blog article. So those were just the five ideas for marketing content. So let me summarize those. Number one generate thought leadership content. Number two write multiple social media posts and captions. Number three write scripts for marketing videos, podcasts or presentations or develop content for landing pages and web and website pages. And five email marketing. I hope you're starting to see how Chat GPT, and just AI in general, is going to be a tool you use every day, along with your outlook and design and CRM tools. And those were just some of the marketing ideas.
Speaker 1:What about your proposals? Can Chat GPT help you write proposals? Well, I'm going to share five ways that you can use Chat GPT for your proposals, but I want to caution you here. I haven't tested these scenarios as much as I have for the marketing scenarios, but I wanted to share them with you because I know that they can be game changers for your proposal production process. Okay, so idea number one generate bio summaries. Chat GPT can be used to generate summaries for your team or of your team. You could copy and paste their resume into the chat and ask it to summarize their experience and expertise. You can even give it a word count if you're short on space.
Speaker 1:Idea number two generate executive summaries, or and or write a persuasive conclusion. Chat GPT can be used to create compelling executive summaries that provide an overview of the proposal and its key points. Idea number three write technical descriptions. Chat GPT can be used to write technical descriptions of the proposal solutions in a clear and easy to understand manner. You can say give me a roadway restoration design narrative. I mean, start with something. Don't give your technical staff a blank page. Now you have the tool to start with something. Number four generate a project plan. Chat GPT can be used to create a project plan that outlines the key milestones and timelines for the proposal solutions. So again, put in your project type, put in the description from the RFP and say generate a project plan.
Speaker 1:Idea number five develop a risk management plan. Chat GPT can be used to analyze potential risks and develop a risk management plan to mitigate them. And I was telling my husband about this when I stumbled across these ideas and, for those of you who don't know, he is a general contractor, he works for a construction management firm and I was telling him about this and he was super excited to try this out, and so I will keep you updated on this as he plays around with Chat GPT and see how good the risk management plans come out. Okay, so let me recap those For proposals. You know just five ways that you can use chat CBT can be generating bio summaries or your you know your personnel summaries, generate executive summaries or writing a persuasive conclusion, write technical descriptions, generate a project plan and develop a risk management plan.
Speaker 1:Okay, so this sounds like just too good to be true, right? That's why there are some like cautions or caveats that I must share with you. First is, know that you'll need to edit or heavily revise the content that chat CBT writes for you. At the very least, you'll want to make sure that you edit for your brand voice and your firm's writing guidelines. But, more importantly, just like with any marketing or proposal content, you'll want to make sure it resonates with your reader, your targeted reader. Another caveat is that it's kind of like garbage in, garbage out.
Speaker 1:You'll need to play around with your prompts or how you ask chat CBT the questions that you ask or the requests that you make.
Speaker 1:It will take some time to figure out. You know what to ask and how to ask it to get the right kind of information that you're looking for. But even with these cautions, I feel like this is just the beginning of AI for marketing and our industry. I know that there are photo and graphics and even presentation builders that are using AI, and more are coming. I just haven't tested those out yet, but they're on my list to do and test out and you bet I will be telling you all about them as soon as I do.
Speaker 1:And if you want to get this list of the 10 different ways you can use chat CBT to help you speed up your content creation, go over to the show notes page over at marketers. Take flight dot com forward, slash one or two, and in that freebie download you'll get the list along with some examples. Again, that freebie is over on the show notes page over at marketers. Take flight dot com forward. Slash one, zero, two, and chat CBT is just one software that you should be adding to your marketing tech stack, and next week's episode I'll be walking you through the tech tools every marketing department should have. Until next time, bye for now.
